Default Radar Detector

i think Beltronic and the Escort 8500 are the best from some research on internet.

i know V1 is supposed to be good but in recent tests, bel and escort beat it pretty bad and plus it cant detect POP radar...

and i was going everywhere in my local area, 6+ car related shops and none of them had the beltronic pro rx65 or V1 but most of them had es cort 8500 the new version with blue LED's and the older with red
(BTW im located in Seattle/Lynnwood WAshington)

i figure ill go with 8500 but the new ones with blue lEd and a faster processor and pop detection is 100$ more than the older 8500 with red leds...

wanted to know the differences in the new model and if you guys have experience/input on possible radar detectors.. thx

I have a V1 and LOVE it... beats the k40 I had. Only thing I would consider over it is the passport BUILT in radar/laser detector/scrambler @ about $800.

V1 is still the best in my opinion... however if you don't have money to blow, the 8500 is the best buy, it's what I've got (the non-X50 version)

I have the Solo S2 and have not gotten a ticket yet... nock on wood. The reason why I went with it is because it is wireless. It is the best of the wireless detectors and it is a pretty good detector but I don't think it is as good as the 8500 or V1. If you don't want a long cord across your stick shift then I suggest the Solo S2.

u all say v1 but there is a new way for cops to check speed and its called "POP" or something they just do a burst sensor or something and it is only for a brief moment and the V1 did not even detect this, while 8500, and bel rx65 did, V1 is rated lower than both of these models, im sure they are all better than enough but i figure get the most for my money around 300$

Local stores won't carry the V1. You can only buy it direct from them. As for the POP issue, they address it on V1s website. I'm not concerned.

Valentine charges it's price because people pay it, and people know it's value.

However, it's pricey. If I did have a budget I would've gotten the 8500 Escort. The V1 had more features I felt were important.

But unless it's an 8500 or a V1, it's nothing more than a "Busted" Detector. I've also read that the wireless dectors lose sensitivity as their batteries die.

Hardwiring in the S2000 is a piece of cake, and takes all of 20 minutes, and there's plenty of helpful advice in the electronics section of the site.

Well, I don't go out everyday with the intent on speeding and breaking the law. I find the detector just as usefull in finding where cops usually sit and clock people, and also in identifiying false alarms and problem areas. The detector is only as smart as the driver.

Has my V1 saved me from a ticket? Yes, I'd say at least two of them. Figure that cost with the increase in insurance I would've had (especially being 21 years old), the V1 has more than payed for itself.
