ok, so this post might not belong in this forum but i didnt really know where to post it. anyways. i know alot of you guys use radar detectors in the s2k and i myself and looking into geting an escort 8500. but my question is, since you mount it on the windshield and the plug in point is all the way back below the vertical storage bin what do you guys do? do u just run the cord out that far or do something else..

I use the straight cord (non-coiled one) and hardwired it to the fuse panel. The wire hides behind the windshield trim all the way down to the fuse panel. Some guys use the accessory plug and mount the detector above the secret compartment.

I got an extender from radioshack for like 10 bucks.

Plug it in, run it between driver's seat and the tunnel, then plug other end into radar detector.

you can buy the hard wire extension unit for maybe $30 for the radar detector, and then hard wire it into your fuse box. it's so easy it's not even funny. there is a DIY for it in the electronics forum

That's what I do with my V1 too. Or, you could just hardwire it like most other people do.

I had Circuit City hard wire the wire in. The detector sits on the dash off to the left.
