Could you walk me through this re-programming (to eliminate X-band). I love the quality of the Valentine. The false "hits" drive me crazy. I'm constantly getting 5+ hits, in the City. Ugh!

Thanks!

Oh yeah dude! The thing is unusable in the city if you don't have X band disabled. And I don't think cops have used X band in a couple of decades.

Here is the link to the Valentine page were you can do all kinds of little custom modifications:

Have you tried the "Logic" (x-band detected, but generally muted) or "Advanced Logic" (x-band detected but
usually no alerts generated)? Simpler than eliminating X altogether, and should still warn in the unlikely
event you encounter real x-band radar...

I own three (3) V1 detectors. The latest firmware eliminates many of the annoying signals from light post speed sensors (that's how your iPhone shows the traffic density) and the blind spot detectors on Buicks, etc. For a while I was blocking some X-band but that's cured and X-band is still alive and well here.

Visit one of the links above and determine how current your firmware is. Valentine will note how current you are and recommend -- or not -- a firmware upgrade. Takes a week.

I've been using a Passport IQ in my S2000. Mediocre GPS and mediocre detector -- but all in one unit. A compromise solution at best.

I may have to check out my firmware again then. Last time I checked was a year or two ago, and the updates available were not worth the cost for my five to eight year old detector. Can't quite remember how long ago I bought it. The cost of the update was pretty high, so I thought about just buying a new one instead. However, it appears that the new ones are made out of plastic now. Instead of the heavy duty metal my current one is. In fact, back before Mr Valentine started his own company, and he was the head of Cincinnati Microwave which makes the Escorts and Passport , one of their advertising campaigns was you could run over their radar detectors with a car and not damage them because they were built so tough.

Much thanks! Got rid of X-band detection. We'll see how it works. I have firmware version 3.894.

3.8945 in all 3 of mine.

Units have a metal shell (not plastic).

Where did you hear this? It's not what Valentine says on their website.
