Radar detector does not replace vigilance entirely. Business road trip two days ago validated my V1 as she picked up signals along seemingly innocent stretches of I86 and on back roads in western NY. Other times, during the rare times I'm following another car, I noted lots of blinking lights on top of their dashboard I can only assume are false alerts. I'm happy enough to have three (3) of them.

My dilemma remains the S2000 which lacks the dashboard for the V1 and a good GPS. The combination Escort IQ is mediocre at best in both modes and the screen washes out in daylight with the roof down.

Why not use your smartphone for GPS (I assume you really mean navigation), and the V1 on the windshield under the rear view mirror. That's what I do. Use this iOttie to mount the smartphone in the lower left corner of the windshield. It won't block your view of the road, and it's super easy to operate without even taking your hand off the wheel.

The iOttie One Touch 2, One Touch XL and One Touch 3 all work great.

These look pretty good. I want to use my iPhone to monitor my Hondata FlashPro. Screen is too small for my eyes to use it as an everyday GPS.

I use an iottie holder as well, the Flex 3; although I think I need to pick up a One Touch 3 now as the Flex barely fits my iphone 6+.

I tried them all (I mean I'm so old I started with the Fuzzbuster, then the original Escort (designed by the V1 inventor) and the Passport and others and now have had one and now two V1's for a very long time.
There is nothing else, built better, informs better, lasts forever, just an amazing product and worth the price of admission.

Now, let's talk about all the semi's with triple radar blasters on the front now on the highway, and the Infinity blasting laser and giving you a heart attack daily and all the other damn collision avoidance systems on everything setting them off now. All radar detectors are quickly becoming very annoying and require a lot of concentration to keep paying attention to the "pattern" so you can discern what is real and what isn't.

My V1's have saved me tens of thousands in tickets and insurance over two decades.

I agree with what you have to say as well. My history is the same as yours. All the way from the original fuzz buster. I've also saved tens of thousands of dollars in tickets and insurance cost. But, I have to say although I Drive 30000 miles a year on the LA freeways, I'm not really bothered by false alarms very much at all.

I was die hard about the V1 for many years, but as mentioned above, nowadays the roads are just getting too noisey. I swapped to the Passport Max bc of this fact and couldn't be happier. I miss the arrows, that's for sure, but I don't miss the noise. I enjoy the hidden mute button as well.

The Max 360s arrow system is subpar to the V1 (of course it is), so I think I'm gonna hold out a few years before I jump to another detector. Either if V1 upgrades to GPS lockout + all the extra filtering that Escort uses today, or when Escorts arrows system is closer to the performance in the Valentine. A detector with arrows AND gps is something I've been waiting for, for a very long time.

Here is the link to the Valentine page were you can do all kinds of little custom modifications:

Took my 9500ix on my recent trip to VT and def. was worth the money. Saved me a handful of times where I wasn't sure the speed limit and slowed down with time to spare before seeing the LEO. Just gotta get a hardwire kit for both my S2000 and my DD.
