Extremely small, not to mention compression fittings are subject to oxidation on individual wires, solder is not. It's six of one, half dozen of the other, but neither method is going to cause an issue over the long haul if performed correctly.
I would never throw away perfectly good wire, and I prefer soldered connections to compression on all but coax cable.
