i want to install rear speaker with the oem head unit, on the connector, what pin do i need to tap into to get the rear speaker wires?

I would not recommend tapping the plug directly. I have a plug n'play harness if you wish to save yourself the trouble.

 

I strongly recommend Lucid's harness. I did the rear speaker wiring myself just to see if I liked it. The soldering was a very delicate operation and I didn't do it very well. I finally got the harness and it is such an easy and solid mod. Get the harness that turns the mute button into an on/off switch. Otherwise, the rears won't mute when you want them to.

The mute function only works with the front speakers?

 

Yes, unless you use my harness. 2000-2001 Get the ON/OFF for mute (added benefit of CD pause). 2002 radios get a full mute.

 

I think they stole your idea. They should bloody well pay you royalties or something!

 

I don't mind it one bit. Its a much better radio! Less work, less cost, lower price!
