Removed Speakers, Kept Wiring Connected..Question.
Hi, I am a total noob when it comes to audio stuff. I had a set of rear hoop speakers , I removed them and cut the wiring and taped up the ends as best as I could reach, so the wiring for the rear speakers is still attached to the HU running through the console from the rear. I now put the fader to full front to direct all of the sound to the front speakers. My question is if I have to remove the wiring that is connected to the HU that is not being used from the rears ?. If it is better to remove it I will, but if it makes no difference then I'll leave it as it stands. Thanks for any replies on this.
why did you remove the hoop speakers? you could have just directed the sound to 100% front. There was no need to remove the speakers and cut the wires....unless you removed the whole hoop itself to put a cage or something.
Since its too late now, better make sure you electrical taped them seperately and good so cannot short your electrical system.

I did tape the speaker wires pretty good, but I might look at pulling it out completely just to be safe from short issues in the future. Thanks for the info on this.

ahhh and i was thinking OEM hoop speakers. No wonder you wanted to remove them.

as long as the cut ends are well insulated - electrical tape is fine, and if you
snipped the wires so no wire is sticking out of the wire's plastic insulation,
there's very little risk even if the tape comes off - there is no reason to
pull the wires leading to the rear.
