Default replaced 2002 speakers with infinity kappa 63.3i

the stereo sounds much cleaner now. volume is similar to stock. i had to cut the baskets a lot for the speakers to fit. if you do not like cutting too much, you should stay away from these speakers. i wonder if other people had the same problem. and thanx to Lucid for the easy to follow instruction.

Did you mean the 60.3cs? What was the mounting depth of the 6.5? The 60.3 has a 2 1/16" mounting depth. Is the basket deep enough for 2 1/16 without cutting or buzzing from the back of the magnet touching the basket? Also, what did you do with the crossover for the tweeters? The 60.3's come with crossovers. Does the 2002 use crossovers? I have a black/black 2002 and am planning to upgrade the stock speakers with component speakers, too. I've always liked the sound of inifinity speakers (most of them).

sorry about the confusion, i did not replace with component speakers. 63.3i are 6 1/2" three way speakers. i cant tell you much about the stock tweeters since i left them untouched. as far as stock crossovers is concerned, i didnt see any. i dont know much about infinity component systems, but the 63.3i are bulkier than the stock speakers and most of the baskets need to be cut away to accomodate the infinity's. i would assume the 60.3 should be similar in size. hope this helps.

i was actually about to purchase them for my car also. As far as the crossover i believe there is an onboard crossover. s22k.. are you running the stock stereo? what are your impressions of it compared to stock? Also, if you don't mind me asking is how much did you get them for? Thanks..

Just bought a set of polk rears and panels from Lucid. Here's what he said about the tweets' crossover in the 2002:
--
The tweeters' crossover is a simple on unit one. I can't say if the system you choose will easily drop in, but 1" tweeters shouldn't be an issue. You could locate the crossover in the door cover, but you'll need to fabricate a bracket.
--

You don't need to worry about them if you're putting in the 63.3's.

the infinitys sound much better than the stock speakers, clean and crisp. i forgot which online store i bought them from, but you should be able to find some good stores thru yahoo shopping. i paid $ 132 including shipping. clutchfield sells them for $200 per pair plus shipping. make sure you use the honda adaptors otherwise you will have to cut the wires.

I sell the adapters. They're $5 for a pair. If you go to a store, ask for 72-7800 metra speaker harness. All hondas use them

I just dropped in Infinity 625i 2-ways ($96/pair-Circuit City), left the stock tweeters in. The sound is awesome. MUCH bigger bass and cleaner midrange. Now I can actually hear the music on the highway.
Also cut the basket. Thinking about stiffening the sheet metal door panel somehow to better support the speakers when cranked. Any ideas?
