I have 2 Rockford Fosgate amps that I am planning to install into my S2000 when I get it. I would recommend them. Which one would depend on what you plan on doing with your stereo...how many speakers, subwoofer, components or no etc.

A h/u with pre-outs only is high on my list also.

Hi Snapper,

my 2p on this - unless you have a real brand loyalty to Nakamichi I'd give serious thought to Alpine's 7990 head unit which is a similar philosophy (i.e. offboard DAC) but I think it has a better transport and allows you to easily retain the dash controls. I have a set of Focal Utopia components up front in my S2000 running of an Alpine 7969 component head unit through a Soundstream amp and am very happy. I'm waiting on my JL Audio stealth box and amp to finish up the install

Auto Audio in Manchester (www.autoaudio.co.uk) are Rockford, Alpine and Focal dealers and I found them very good indeed (and I'm a fussy sod )

I might consider a different brand of amp though if you are going to run such a high end source , RF are great (especially for SPL purposes) but there are other high-end choices. Have a look at PPI or Soundstream's offerings but you'll likely need to get them imported from the USA.

Tif,

thanks for the advice, perhaps i do have too much brand loyalty but the nak

is beautifully made - might have to check out the alpine though!

I've just ordered the rear system from lucid for the time being, i'll have to see

whether they mess up the soundstage or not

did you get auto audio to install the focals & cd?

cheers

warren ( might have to change my username)

I tend to do all my own installs (used to be "in the trade" once upon a time) but I came very close to having them do a custom A-build for the Focal tweeters. I was very impressed by their operation and they come highly recommended by friends of mine who are still in the profession.

You are not a million miles away from me if you'd like to have a listen to the Focals "in situ", I found it impossible to get a listen and ended up buying them just off recomendations. Auto Audio were very good though and went through all their potential pitfalls before I installed them.

PM me if you want to hook up one weekend.
