Roll hoop vs headrest speakers OEM

So if I understand correctly, the headrest speakers (2nd photo) is NOT compatible with 06+ cars, because the seat design is different than 00-05 and they don't physically fit in the 06+ cars.
But, the 06-09 roll hoop speakers (1st photo) do physically fit on the 00-05 cars, just it depends if your stereo has the leads for the extra speakers.
Is that correct?

Not sure you’d want to adapt a pre 06 car to the roll hoop speakers though, ton of work for very little return.
