Default Round 2 Audio

Well after having my whole corvette deal fall thru, and even worse after selling my entire sound system (focal's, sound stream, xm, alphasonik), I have decided to keep the S for about a year longer. Now I am entertaining the idea of getting a new system, I can't deal with the stock radio anymore, and its only been maybe 2 weeks if that. The car is entirely wired still, so its basically plug and play this time around.

I will call this project "system 2.0"

Here is what I am thinking this time around, nothing crazy like last time. No FOCALS!!!

1. HU - JVC KD-AVX1
http://www.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MOD...athId=87&page=1

saw this the other day at a car stereo shop, looks awesome.

2. Components - Infinity Kappa, NFRS2000NYC help me out here, Kappa Perfects are the one's to go for right?

3. Amp - undecided at this point, if I can find the same amp I had before it would be great Sound Stream Van GOGH 500.4

4. Sub - of course this is a no brainer, Alphasonik PSW810 running 500 watts. Same as before.

NO XM this time around, I did not think it was worth it for me, I only listened to the same 3 stations the whole time. THis time around though I do plan to integrate an Ipod NANO into the equation.

Alright guys I want your input, suggestions, critique, how does it sound so far? If you dont like the above, let me know what your thoughts are, or better yet suggest something. I need all the Electronic Junkies here!

Jim, I am going to need another amp rack, and modfry, time for a DCI!

I am just excited as the first time around.

I dont really have a spending limit to tell you the truth, but I am not going to spend premium money for components that pretty much go to waste in our car with all the noise associated with a convertible. I had Focal Utopia's before, and even though they where awesome, I dont think it was worth it to spend the kind of money I did on those, now if I had a BMW 745, thats a different story.

As for what I am going for, hmm, I dont really have an answer for that. My main goal is to be able to hear the music with the top down and get rid of the stock system.

I have wanted to get the Kappa Perfect's for some reason, so those are the components I want.

HU, I want something thats different, and the JVC fits the bill perfectly. Its got an awesome 3 inch screen, the unit plays dvd movies, and I can fit my whole cd music collection on one dvd. Only draw back is that the file structure from what I understand on that radio is not the easiest to navigate thru, when looking for a song.

NFRS2000NYC,

How many watts you running to your Kappa's? I see 100 watts rms on their literature, but are you over powering yours?

Trying to locate a suitable amp, they discontinued the Van gogh I had before.

Any suggestions. I want a 4 channel amp, 2 rear bridged to run the Alpha, I want to push about 500 watts to the sub.

Kappa Perfects are amazing speakers, but I'm not sure about them with a convertible top. The highs are very harsh at high volume, and I'm worried on the freeway you'd only be hearing the ear-piercing 8-12k range.

I've been very happy with my Polk Audio C300.2 (amp) & MMC6500 components pairing. Of course, that doesn't fit your single amp design, but you can fit a pair of the amps side by side in the spare tire well.

you're probably thinking about the Kappa Perfects. while the Boston GT-42 is a nice amp, i'm not sure it's cost effective for a 1-2 year system. still worth looking at tho.

OC, what do you mean about them not being good with a convertible pot.

Are the highs really that hars, can you set them to -2 or -4 db to remedy that?

Excuse my typing, just had my wisdom teeth removed, you get the drift.

PJK3, I really want a 4 channel amp, i am trying to track down a used van gogh, or any stores that might have any left over from last year. But I am goign to chec out eveyon'e suggstions.
