I just ran JL 6 1/2's and mounted tweeters flush in the door right next to the speakers. The crossovers fit neatly into the door also. It looks great and sounds 100% better. You might pay a little more, but the sound is incredible.

I have Kenwood excelon xr600's pretty strong and easily handle the head unit. I also have kenwood 1058's (I think) in the rear in lucid's rear panel design.
I know the 600's handle more than the Sony's- but if you are going to stop at the speakers- you don't need more. My next upgrade is a 4x50 or 4x75 watt amp. Output is good now but I think both sets of speakers could use more power. I just want to find an amp that can fit somewhere besides in the trunk. Will continue to look until I find what I want.
Glad I could help.

hey bud murphy:
for that crossover system did it fit perfectly in the doors without any cutting/drilling? also do you need a amp to power the speakers also or running off stock head unit fine? Also how much was your speaker setup and whats the unit number is you have that also
stookfreak:
How much did you pay for the excelon xr600 speakers? I was thinking maybe paying only 50 bucks for the sony 1620 was getting a mediocre speaker and was looking for something with more bang for the buck you know?

The only drilling that was necessary was 2 holes into that small compartment where I put the crossovers. Very easy to do. VERY! As for an amp, not totally necessary, but I am adding an Alpine amp this weekend.
As prices are concerned, let me know what components you're looking for and I probably can get them at a good price.
I can say that I spend well under what I should have for ALL the compnents...
PM me for more information.
