Default Running wires through fire wall? How?

Im installing some extra lighting and i need some pointers. Is there a preferred access through the firewall that can be accessed inside of the vehicle to run wiring to the center council for a switch? Also is there a preferred way to tap a power source with a wire already attached with a fuse into the battery?

Thanks Guys

Here's a thread about using the accessory connectors in the under-dash fusebox.
There are others, found through a forum search for "fusebox accessory".
Here's a thread on routing wires through the firewall. I did a search on "firewall grommet"
to find it and others.

it helps if you've seen the posts before, and have a good idea what keywords they likely include

I recently ran 4 awg cable quite easily through the grommet right next to the battery on the passenger side. Just have something to poke through and some windex and you'll be set.

...and sometimes a site-restricted Google search will yield better results than the built-in forum search.
