I'm purchasing a small quanity of yellow leather today, for a custom set of S-Pods. If anyone else is interested in yellow let me know. It will be a couple weeks before pics are available.

The first yellow pics should be available this w/e. The first set of yellow pods will be delivered tomorrow, but the speakers won't arrive until Friday.

I've been waiting for these puppies so long I'll probably put 'em in and take some pics w/out the speakers tomorrow.

Many many thanks to Mark for sticking with me on finding the yellow material. As you can tell from all the earlier posts, he really goes out of his way to take exceptional care of his customers. I had won a speaker pod gift cert at last year's Sac2K days and he went to all this trouble despite the fact that he was probably not making anything on the deal.

Without a doubt, the best vendor I've ever dealt with here!

Thanks Mark.

PS: He's got another pair of yellows... be the second kid on your planet to own one!

Thanks Andrew! ...I haven't made the second Yellow set yet, but could ship within a couple days of someone placing an order.

As I suspected, I couldn't wait for the speakers to arrive, and installed the speaker pods without them for now. I think they look fantastic, but I'll leave it up to you guys. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the material is a perfect match for the Rick's console cover/shift boot. The quality is outstanding.

Thanks again to Mark for making this happen!

Who's going to get the other set????? It won't last long.

Mark,

Got the S-Pods in record time and installed into my '04 without any problems! The plug on the '04 rear speaker wire harness under the dash was clipped off and (4) 2 piece plugs (one set per wire) were labeled and crimped on. I am using (as per your reccommendation) Crystal CPE50s.
I couldn't be any happier!
Thanks for such a great product!!

I'm actually considering buying the spods, just wondering, has any members installed Focal 5 1/4 components b4? If so, which model is recommended?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure Focal's have been installed before. I'll look at their website and let you know if any sound familiar.

Mark

It looks like you came up with a good product but forgive me for the design questions.

Wouldn't the speakers fit better if the larger speaker was positioned at the larger end of the rollbar loop, and subsequently put the smaller tweeter at the top of the loop? And.....do you think if you put more holes in the leather cover, that you'd get even better sound transfer?

When installing component speakers does anyone install a crossover network for the high frequency tweeter and the lower frequency midrange?

What can I say.....I'm an engineer and pick everything apart.

Max... FYI

If the speaker position was reversed, there would be limited room for the depth of the magnet of the larger driver inside the bottom of the loop. There's much more interior room at the top than the bottom. It also keeps the tweeter from playing directly into your head by putting it a bit lower and I think that improves the channel separation.

I have a crossover with mine. There's no room inside the pod for the crossover, so I have it hidden behind the panel behind the seats. I had to run two sets of wires into the "roll bar" instead of one, but it really wasn't a big deal.

In all honesty, the speakers sound a tad better with the covers off, as they're not "transparent", but it looks so darn cool with 'em on, who cares?!

The s-pods design is simple, but pretty darn ingenious. The quality is first rate as well!
