S-Pod Info (Consolidated Information)
Seriously looks like this is the way to go, especially since I already have the Lucid rears wired up. Will remove the Lucid rears and wire those to the spods. That should be OK correct?
Also, hit the crap out of my hoops and no open...any suggestions on the "sweet spot"?
One last thing, sorry. Looking for convenience, thus what speakers (pair) do you recommend as the best sound for about $300. I have a stock HU and for now, want to keep it that way.
Thanks for the help and hopefully get enough "guts" to try this myself.

I didn't want to break my hoops open and there definitely is an alternative. Unfortunately, it's a permanent. If you drill a small hole in the front of the roll hoop plastic, you can attach an open coat hanger or other very stiff wire to your speaker cable and feed it down through the hoop and into the open area below (once you've removed the panel). The bad part is that you have a hole. If you ever removed the speaker pods, you'd have to have it filled or it would show.
If you plan to make the mod a perm one, as I did, drilling is much easier and less invasive. (Your plastic need never be separated)
If you do it this way... be careful of one thing. Make sure you drill the hole in the area that will be covered by the front aluminum plate of the s-pod. Otherwise, when your covers are off, the wires will be exposed. (If you keep the hole behind, the install is invisible unless you remove the entire s-pod.)
As for speakers: I found a brand new set of the Alpine R series on e-Bay for $120. A lot of people seem to like the Crystals and Focals, but I'm not sure what they cost.

Ap1_rock is right, try hitting just behind, or right on the crack. Dozens upon dozens of people have had success with this technique. (OK - that sounds just a little nasty...maybe I should substitute the word seam for "crack"?)
With $300 to spend, you have too many good choices to name. What fronts are you running? If they are super high end, you'll be fine spending less $$$$ on your rear components. Personally, I like the Alpine R's.
I've done direct comparisons of speakers in the rear panels vs. S-Pods. You'll be amazed at the improvement. I can provide an un-biased reference if needed.

thanks for the input. Will try "palming" this weekend. I am stock in the front (for now). Sounds like the Alpine R are the way to go. I assume they will bolt in to the pods just fine? PS what size or model number Alpines should I specifically look for, and any good referrals to get em.
Again, thanks, this is what the S community so great...
