Most people complain about a loss of bass because they're not used to what bass is supposed to sound like. Bass is not supposed to overpower the rest of the music, however much anyone else believes such to be the case
And a majority of people complain about a lack of treble just because the tweeters aren't ear bleeding harsh or ringing

by the way, has anyone successfully run two sets of speaker wires (two 12GA or two 16GA) through the door grommets? Just need to know if there's enough room before I order the wires. Thanks!

No way, that NEVER happens. I mean, srsly. That's how Alpine and MB Quarts et al sound, that's how the music is supposed to sound, right?... I had someone tell me he liked his MB Quarts better than my SEAS tweets because his are brighter - he'd sacrifice the overall amount of sound just to make them appear more loud (not realizing the hearing fatigue this harshness causes).

Actually, my own little theory is that marketing by those guys (Alpine, JL, MB, etc) is outstanding. They sell crappy speakers and cover up how poorly their speakers reproduce sound by making them harsh and boomy (tweeter/woofer respectively) and then tell kids that this is how it should sound (I mean, if there's lots of treble, that means the tweeter is good, right?).

Poor poor kids... Loud =/= SQ. SQ will generally get loud, but that's because true SQ requires a solid amount of power and the speakers are generally more efficient (oops, there I go making blanket statements again...)

I have two pairs of 12ga running through the grommets. Definitely need a wire hanger and grease/lube wouldn't be bad (although, I did mine without).

LOL MB Quart tweets

Alpine has steered away from that direction with Type R but those aren't reliable at all. And no, that statement isn't bold at all Someompanie are making outrageously insensitive speakers just so that they can boost their W statement, ahaha

thx for the info Gonna place my speaker wire order right now so that my Audison VRx + Helix RS6 can start singing

GL with the install.

Hopefully this week I can get around to making new spacers so I can mount my 5 1/4 Revelators (powered by an Audison LRx)

Finally got my system done and did a preliminary tune yesterday I'll post pics when I have time

Glad that I can listen to Jazz in the S now A great deal of staging and imaging are still there even when I drive with top & windows down at freeway speeds

Doing a break in marathon on the speakers in my garage atm

NS, how are the Revelators doing? Haven't seen you posting in a while

Well, as it turns out, the Revelators have an uncoated paper cone. While excellent for home theater (which is what they're designed for), they'd manage to last about...oh...2 weeks in the S before the cone would be pulp. I'm working on building fiberglass speaker pods for the doors, just a matter of finding the time to do it.

I'll try to remember to have my gf take pics of the process

Glad to hear your system is working out for you

I was actually going to ask how well those were going to work in the S, as I'd only ever heard of them being used in HT. Guess I have my answer.

^this kind of obstacle is often stumbled upon when you use home audio drivers on cars, but well worth the effort when done

I'm getting too lazy and don't feel like buying another high end amp to go active on the S

One interesting thing I found while tuning the S manually is that you really need a dual mono amp(2ch with individual gain control for each channel) or an active setup to reproduce the perfect balance for the driver. Damn those non symmetric door panels!
