Default S2000 Passenger speaker issues

Hey all,

Just recently ran into a problem with the OEM speaker on the passenger door, it's been fading in and out, driver side works just fine, only the little treble speaker mounted above the door handle seems to be working, just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem before, want to have a clear idea before I start stripping off the door panel again, loose connection? New speaker? Look forward to anyone who can help. Thanks for your time

The failure is most likely to be one of the two things you mentioned, but either way you're going to need to pull the door panel off to find out. Luckily it's an extremely easy panel to remove and replace. If it's the same as my 2006 then you just pop off two cover pieces on the door handle, remove the screws behind said covers, remove the screw behind the inside door opener latch, then go along the bottom of the panel popping out the clips by working your hands between the panel and the sheet metal. Once they're all free you just lift up and then unplug two harnesses to fully remove the panel (or stand it up on its side if you have enough room to work around it).

While you're at it you might as well replace with some decent aftermarket component speakers--they will perform much better than the OEM speakers. You'll also want to get an aftermarket head unit to push a bit more power to the speakers (or an amp if you want some real volume). Just an 'average' head unit and door speakers will give you massively increased sound quality and volume for under $300 total. The stock setup is unacceptable quality.

Thanks for your response, just a quick question regarding a possible loose connection, how would one go about resolving that issue, speaker is a different issue, don't think it should be hard to replace one of those, but for a loose connection, how would that be fixed?

I have recently biamped OEM door speakers with Fosgate R 600 Prime which fits in toolbox perfectly. The sub is in passenger footwell - JBL GTO 8. The sound is very good. The head roll OEM 8 ohm are very weak so I tried Focal Tis1 1/2 4 ohm on driver side but sound is not as good as OEM on passenger side. I took 1 OEM apart to check if base blocker was in the plastic box and it was. Suggestions?.Where can I get another OEM if I have to live with OEM ? Thanks for your time and help.

Bandolor- everything thats been said is right... I updated my speakers as well and biggest difference in the world.... They put such crappy speakers fot such a nice car. Im selling a pair of Crecendo mids and Clarion Tweets if your interested. Only reason is cause i was bought a set of Rockford Fosgate Power T1s(which are a huuuge huuuge upgrade).... I would reccomend it either way you go.... Put in a small amp for mids/tweets and a sub and amp for the sub and your ready to rock!!
