How about a section on what the heck RMS actually is and how to caculate/read it.

How all things like input voltage, speaker resistance, etc all work together. Frankly I am a little fuzzy on it myself, and that's how I noticed it wasn't in here.

This would be useful in choosing an amp for your various speakers.
ok... finished writing this one up. it came out longer than i thought, but i'm adding it now.

Hey P

I did not see much in the alarm section. I have been working on a basic S2000 specific alarm install guide for the Hornet 700T and Prox sensor (not pre config'd by me - just the basic info on where to hook it all up ). If you like I can PM you the details (wiring guide with some pics) and you can add it to the FAQ or just link it.

It should work with most any alarm model install

Let me know if you want it?

- William

William -- sounds awesome! i definitely want it... it's probably pretty large, so let's link it in vs adding it in. can you just post it and i'll catch the link?
as it is, there are some large questions that the sections are pretty long, and i'm already thinking about creating specific posts for and turning into links...

thanks!!

actually, i've had several offers for hosting so far.

at the moment, i've been trying to keep everything here, but as this monster continues to grow, i'm facing the possiblity of having to relocate some sections. i was going to first try just breaking the very large sections off into 'sub threads' that the main post refers to (like the UTH FAQ).

thank you for the very kind offer.

Alright guys....go to page 1. Ive added a panel removal section. Let me me know what you think...

1)What panels did I miss (necessary for electronics installation)
2)How my descriptions are, and directions
3)accuracy.

Let me know, and I will make the necessary changes.

Dave, with all the clutter in this thread, your post kinda gets lost.

can you do 1 of 2 things for me? either put a #panels in the top of that post, or can you repost those in a different thread so i can link you in? i think linking you in via another post would probably be easiest.

otherwise?? they look great!

panels you might have missed/want to add:
rear trim panel (panel that has the gas fill door pull)
passenger 'knee' panel (needed to get to top down mod)
right and left side panels on the center tunnel (to help run wires behind the HU)
maybe a simple guide on how to pull the trunk liner panels?

Somewhat of a general question ...

When looking the Alpine head units, does it mean one can wire the HU directly to the dash volume control if the deck says "OEM Steering Remote Ready"?

Thanks.

Some HU's in Alpine's new 2005 line also have a hardwire line input for remote dash controls. As of this writing (6/2005) the interface for the S2000 is only available in Europe, but is allegedly going to be available in the US soon. Some users have imported the interface to the US with good success.
