^^ this will work, if your using the factory antenna, then your gonna have to put it on the trunk. as long as it has a clear view of the sky, it will work just fine.

I have mine mounted behind the windscreen on a small square of velcro (soft side to the antenna). Works find with the soft top up or down. When I put the hard top on, I relocate it to one of the metal tabs that stick off off the window frame. Works like a champ!

I've been told that the signal will go through glass, plastic, and fabric just fine. It is metal that is an issue.

I have mine mounted on the top of the windshield.
The one I have is magnetic and sticks to the metal
frame the windshield is in. Also it is about the size
of a Silver Dollar and about 1/2 inch tall.

I have the wire tucked under the dash and up the A
pillar and across the top rubber trim, and then I just
laid my antenna on top of the window frame, and I
have about 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch of wire showing.

The top does not pinch on the wire at all when closed.

you will have no issue with having the antenna by a window like the front windscreen. ive personally ridden in at least 3 cars with the antenna in a window inside the car. there is no issue with noise what so ever.
