Seeking advice/opinion on where to place satellite antenna. I think placing it on the trunk may scratch the cars surface so any thoughts about the dash area or windshield?

 

I put a magnetic antenna at the front-center of the dash, where it meet the windshield. It has a magnetic base, so all you need to do is apply a removable magnetic strip to the dash --- to attach the antenna. Seems to work pretty well in areas I drive. Southern, Central, No Cal.

You can see the antenna (under arrow) on top of magnetic strip. I pushed in aside to better show both.
