Default Satellite Radio

If you haven't listened to Satellite Radio, I urge you give it a try. The extent of programming is amazing. It also highlights how bad terrestrial radio is in this era of corporate programming. Why is it commercials are all at the same time across stations?

It doesn't matter if you're a rabid sports fan, talk radio junkie, head banger, classical maestro, spikey haired punk rocker or show tunes fan. It's all there. You also get the added bonus to see the names of the song and band on most units. A great way to explore new music [or new music to you.]

My objective isn't to make this a SIRIUS vs. XM discussion. Everyone has their preference: good on you. It's to showcase the worth of spending about $ .50 a day for great content. I find I listen to satellite about 80% of the time I'm driving currently. Give it a try, and you'll get hooked, too!

I'm surprised by the comment. I did notice you're from South Jersey. You probably have more progressive stations than in the midwest! Over the decade, I can't recall ever listening to music over our horrible stations.

I could spend hours listening to everything from standards, Little Stevie's Underground Garage, the adhoc channels [like the Smith's weekend], the Coffee House [when my mellow friend rides w/me] or some of the other's.

I also dig the fact I can listen to my home NFL broadcast when I'm on vacation [I own a portable unit, too], and when I travel on Sunday's by car. I usually lose the signal from broadcast radio after about two hours of driving.

It sucks I can no longer stream windows media player at work, but I don't want this to be a Microsoft diatribe. I miss it.

I respect your opinion, so other's should note it. Perhaps other's should listen, and be advised to return it within the proper period if they don't like it.

I'll second satellite radio. I listen to it most of the time I'm driving and even have it set up at work. I can get a terrestrial signal from my office so I bring my tuner in to my office and plug it into some computer speakers.

wickerbill: I'm not sure about XM but if you have Sirius you can stream it online through the internet... I love my sat radio and that's what I do to listen to it at work (through headphones)

Yeah, you can listen to sirius online, but it sounds like shit compared to through the tuner. They use way too low of a bitrate on the online player. Plus, I like the features of the tuner compared to the online player. If I couldn't get a signal in my office, then I might resort to the online player, but I do have a signal so I'm taking advantage of that.

Yup, I'm getting XM in my stereo system tired of buying CDs and itunes. And the stations here in the south sucks.

It checked out both sirius and XM, XM has more stations.
