Sorry to resurrect an old thread.

Could anyone give me an estimated time to install the Honda XM kit?

If I went aftermarket, I'd know longer be able to use the dash controls, correct?
Thanks
Chris
You can use the dash controls with a DCI from Modifry.

That's what I'm planning to do when I yank out the stock HU and put in the one I had in my truck.

The time to install the factory XM unit is about 5 minutes, four of which are undoing the trunk panel and lifting out the spare tire.

However, if you install the factory XM ***ANTENNA***, that's a major surgical procedure.

I strongly recommend going with a splitter (the factory XM antenna plug is two-prong) and aftermarket XM antenna, which has much better reception, requires no drilling, and is much, much smaller. Installation time: under 1 minute. Plug it in, drop it on the deck lid.

(and add the blitzsafe micro)

As for the factory XM antenna with an aftermarket receiver, probably no go. It's a two-lead antenna but all aftermarket XM units for some time now have been single prong and there isn't a splitter that works in reverse.

Also, the factory antenna prongs are not just two-lead, they are also an unusual not quite standard size. The splitter plugs into it, but you have to tape it or otherwise make sure it doesn't slide off.
