if this is the system you are talking about, I'd say its garbage.

Go with something that is at least 2 way, so if something goes on with the car, it will alert you. I have the Viper 5902, and if something triggers the alarm, it will page my remote so I know whats going on. Honestly, out of the DEI lineup, I would go with the Viper 5901. It has an LCD 2 way remote, lots of range, is compatible for viper smart start, and has all the features you would need.

I have the 5901 and I love it, if anything happens to your car, and you're within a mile radius of it, your alarm will let you know. as far as I know, the only difference in the 5902 and 5901 is the remote

Any DEI product is a good way to go. If you are on a budget then a 1-way is better then no alarm. Just make sure you get someone that knows what they are doing to do the install. An alarm is not a easy DIY and you can really mess something up if you tie into the wrong wire. And just some food for thought, a lot of audio shops won't install an alarm unless it is purchased from them but they also have lifetime or a few year warranty that comes with it.
