I use the Pessport 8500 and it has not let me down yet. I have it hardwired into a fusebox. The V1 is a great detector but Ididn't want to pay that much more for arrows. And it is bulky. BTW, escort now has a laser diffuser system that works with the passport radar detectors if you are concerned with laser.
amen to that!

i've been saved on numerous occasion in numerous vehicles with my V1.

I have it hard wired into the S ... its a pretty straight forward install.

I had an audio guy a few blocks away do mine but I've done it over myself...let me know if you want to come Glen Ridge to sort it out.

Nate.

V1 is the way to go. Hardwire to fuse box is simple and should take no longer than 40 minutes. Here are the instructions.

I'd still go with the Passport 8500 X50. Best value and performance for the money.

V1 is good, but I haven't seen them update their stuff anytime recently. And the X50 definitely is as good as the V1 for less money.

remember a radar doesn't guarantee against future tickets. Still have laser and instant on to worry about. That said, I have a bel 980 in the gf's car, passport 8500 in the family and I personally have a V1. Arrows are amazing. People say that if you hear a beep, you'll automatically slow down and I thought the same thing. Once you have arrows though, you can't go back. We're actually going to replace the 980 with a V1 when she moves onto her next car just for the arrows.

With that said, if you can swing the extra for the V1, you won't be disappointed. If you want to save some money and want a good radar, the x50 is fine. I have friends with it and they're satisfied. If you buy the x50 just for the POP detection, well remember it comes turned off default so turn it on if you want it on. Just remember x50 or V1

I dont want to turn this into a debate over V1 vs the 8500......

The V1 is a MUST (arrows) in Jersey. I drive to Atlantic City all the time, and also upstate NY, and NEVER got bagged speeding since my V1.

I just took a trip to ithaca, and did 115mph for 96 miles straight (my girlfriend was watching Pee Wee's Big Adventure on TV).....and the V1 picked up cops like fish in a barrel. Take my word on it......V1 in NY/NJ is the only way to go.
