Default Shopping for a new HU

I've been looking around for a new HU to replace the stock one in my S2K. I've been around my local area and have done some research online (Crutchfield). I currently have a Pioneer DEH-4000 in my CR-V. I really like the features it has (USB, Siruis, etc), but my concern is is power output on it and the other pioneer HU. Seems they are only putting out 14 watts. As I noticed today that with the top down on the S it makes it hard to hear your music. My thoughts are to get a HU that has a higher wattage. I found several Kenwoods (KDC-X493 and the KDC-X692) both have the features I'm looking for and put out 22 watts. I'm also looking for speaker upgrade, but have not started my review process on that.

So leads me me to this.. when demoing HU in the store how do I take into consideration my "top down" situation in the S? We know that they prolly sound better in an enclosed room. How do I get my demo as close to inside my car like as I can?

Also any thoughts on the HU I selected? Looking for ease of use, sound quality, install, and product quality kinda stuff.

My only thought is you won't see as much sound difference as you're hoping to, even if the 22 watt rating is correct.
