Default Pioneer In-Dash Player (DEHP6800MP)

Does anyone have any experience with this head unit? Plusses vs minuses, sound quality, et cetera.

I have a stock HU and a set of Infinity reference speakers in the doors right now, and I'm looking for better sound, IPOD input and XM.

I know Alpines seem to be a popular choice but this HU seemed pretty comparable with the Alpine 9856, what do you think?

You are pretty much going to get a very swayed answer. About 85% of us use Alpine, while the other 15% use other brands.

I have never used that particular headunit in questions, however, I have not been happy with Pioneer when I owned them. Overly digital, complicated, low quality motorization, etc.

I see no reason to get anything over Alpine.

If I had to make a list...

1)Alpine
2)Eclipse
3)Clarion
4)JVC/Panasonic/Denon/Nakamichi/Rockford Fosgate
5)Pioneer/Blaupunkt

Most junkies here have the same list.

I was looking at the same HU then I found out in April Pioneer will release DEH-P7800MP this one will have full color display instead of just blue graphic. That what I am getting... it look good and if it last 5 years then it good enought for me. The Alpine look like the has the same look since the 90's. To each it own I guess.

I'm a little concerned that many of the Alpine 9856 reviews say that the display gets washed out in sunlight because of the black and white display.
