Default Sirius Installed

I had a aftermarket Kenwood receiver and Infinity door speakers put in today. This was done at Car Toys whu also had the remote sender that allowed me to have some basic functions from the dash mount controls.

Kenwood and Sirius have a promotion where if you buy a sat ready receiver you get the sat receiver for free and the first month for free. While I was at it I had Sat Radio installed.

I am not real happy about the look of the antenna but I was told a new one is coming soon that is 1/2 its size and could be ordered in various colors and even painted to match the car.
Sat radio is pretty cool!!!!!

How big is your antenna? I had an Alpine/XM system put in a week ago and the antenna is magnetic and about the size of a pack of Marlboros- Sirius should be the same size.

The Kenwood/Sirius deal is pretty sweet, one of my friends just had one installed in his truck and he loves it. Sirius is supposed to be commercial free- I have noticed that XM is sneaking in Budweiser and JC Penney ads. Nothing quite like seeing a giant "JC PENNEY" scrolling across your $400 radio when you get in your car.

where are yall putting your antennas?

i'm interested in getting XM, but the thought of an antenna on the back as advertisement for my non-stock system and as a (imho) rather ugly black bulge doesn't appeal to me...

didn't i see someone w/ one located in the secret compartment?

I HATE CAR TOYS!!!!!

i had my car in there for a total of 4 times after my alarm was installed...
After they installed this "great" alarm in my car, I discovered that when they removed my dashboard, they cracked the middle of it. After I came back to have it replaced.... they scraped my side pillars, put new scratches on the new dash board they just replaced and on top of that they had to replace the whole steering wheel cover that covers the key hole area.. Can you believe this???.. So being a very very dissapointed customer, I relocated myself to the N Gessner location to hopefully have a better installer to fix the repairs from the "professional" installer located on Westheimer. I must say that the alarm has done no use for me. I can't even turn it on at home b/c it goes off for no apparent reason. And on top of that when I'm driving, the damn thing vibrates from the inside of my dash board.... I will never do business with Car Toys again in Houston.. I'll take my happy ass back to Custom Sounds in Austin and have quality work done.

my 2 cents.....

a bit off topic...

s2kmugen,

The alarm going off with no provocation sounds like they forgot to tie a sensor wire to high or low. For instance, on the Clifford alarms the hood pin sense wire will be tied to ground whenever the hood is opened. However, their systems aren't perfectly designed, and it seems as if they forgot to tie the line high internally. So, when I do an install, I connect a 10kohm resistor from the sense wire to power (effectively tieing it high until the hood switch forces it low). The next time it goes off, pull the code for what sensor tripped, then check that line to make sure they connected it either to a sensor/switch or tied it high/low.
