so, Seminole2001 and Mikes2k -

you have no problems w/ reception from mounting it under plastic and receiving through the soft top?

if so, i may be a sold XM customer.

s2kmugen, do i understand correctly - you have it mounted in the loop for the driver's side roll bar?

Thanks!

Philip

Plastic shouldn't be an issue ,its metal that causes problems! I have both my GPS antenna and the XM antenna mounted right up under the dash and NO problems with reception for either!

GO STEALTH!!

I had XM now for about 3 weeks, and my daily commute takes me through a short tunnel, I lose the NAV in there for a second but not the XM.

Go Sirius, trust me I have both. XM is good but there are more ad's coming to more stations. Sirius is commercial free, and sounds better in my opinion. Also I have no problems receiving the Sirius signal thru plastic and soft top.

I'll be adding Sirius next month for my truck. Seems most deck brands are with Sirius. Sony and Alpine I think are XM?

Bass,

Doesn't pinky has his XM antena in the secret compartment? It seems great there. Does he have any issues with it there?

I would have to check fitment, but it might be possible to remove the antenna form its casing and place it in the empty space of the secret compartment cover. the antenna already has a flex connection, so it won't pose a problem with the lid opening and closing. At least that way you can still use the secret compartment without losing space.

The Kenwood/Sirius deal is pretty sweet, one of my friends just had one installed in his truck and he loves it. Sirius is supposed to be commercial free- I have noticed that XM is sneaking in Budweiser and JC Penney ads. Nothing quite like seeing a giant "JC PENNEY" scrolling across your $400 radio when you get in your car.
The antenna is slightly larger than a computer mouse. Mine is currently located on the trunk but I plan to try moving it to the secret compartment. They put the sat receiver beehind the passenger seat but I am having it moved. The internal fan has a high frequency whine that is a little bothersome when the top is up and the stereo is at a very low level.

What am I missing? Why take up what little storage we have?? You can bury it as long as you stay away from metal. Up underneath the dash works great!
