Default Snagged some Polk db6501 components

Circuit City had the set for $139, which was really good given that even the gray-market ones on eBay are about $150.

Product info

Probably going to throw these in next weekend along with my Pioneer Premier 590 head unit. Before I attack this, am I getting myself in deep with replacing the factory tweeters on my 05? I would assume that it shouldn't be too difficult.

Anyone else who installed these care to comment? I checked, and yes, they fit.

Saw this FAQ and it looks pretty straightforward (from a generic installation POV)

i have the db6501s's. the S stands for shallow mount. with the ones youre looking at, you might have to modify the speaker basket, but they should work. mine went in just like stock. remember though, circuit city is going out of business, so you should be able to heckle a better price than that.

good luck

On the contrary, they absolutely will not adjust prices. Circuit City doesn't own the merchandise anymore, the liquidator does.

Mounting depth is 2", so they'll fit, according to Crutchfield.

I bought mine from Tweeter when they went out of business. The link above is for the db6500 which have different mounting holes. I was not able to re-use the stock basket, but Polk supplies a speaker adapter that should work with factory mounting holes. You will have to break off some tabs, but just double check which ones you'll need before snapping those unused tabs. The fit of this bracket is not perfect, but it works. Otherwise, the install is pretty straight forward.
