6 1/2" speakers work better back there, quite a few people have done it.

I'd advise against 6x9's

Good 6.5s should get the job done. What do you have in the front now? If they are stock, upgrade those first.

I got head rest speakers in my 05 and i have a set of cross overs and 6x9's sitting at my house so i plan on using the cross overs and using the head rest as the tweeters and the 6x9's as the sub and i plan to mount them up where the vents are behind the seats i am not sure how this is going to work because i have not had my s in a while and am not sure if it will all line up but just a thought

I couldn't fit anything larger than 4 inch speakers in the vent panels, the metal support bar that runs back there creates fitment issues. I went with 4 inch speakers and it was a tight fit, perhaps others have modified the rear to get larger speakers to fit, but I didn't mess with them too much.
