The box design is straight from Alpine. The box is a little small but the port fixes that problem. Its bigger then it looks. I filled in most of the flex section with sound deadener

Alpine 10 Type-R

I've play with a Type-R for about 6 months, 7 diffrent enclosers in the end ! Now the Type R has FS of 30 so what is the box tuned to ? Now although the FS is 30HZ We found they really didnt have very good lower frequency response and porting it didnt help in fact made it worse, we went for a slightly oversized sealed box in the end.
TBH i've NEVER heard of any design that made a ported box smaller ?? i mean you have port displacement for a start..
The bend in the port will help drop the port velocity noise though..

X-Ruckus- We haven't finished the system yet so we have not retuned it since. But last years box sounded great and it was sealed.

oh yeah the door panels fit awesome Dave. I added a few clips to make the fitment a little tighter, but I recommend them to people.
