the woodwork alone is what astounds me... that's some really excellent stuff... you're going to have me buying my own router table before this is all done... i mean, don't get me wrong... the fiber work is nice, but the framing work is really the foundation that makes the uber-fiberglass work possible...

Thanks guys!
The router was used for the MDF speaker rings and the plexi. Every one of those pieces is different in some way and I did all those all on a scroll saw. We bought a new router, drill press, scroll saw and buffer just for this project. The tools cost about $500 for them and the bits we used. But once you have them ou can try so many different things.

/me takes notes...

scroll saw.... router table....

what did you do to keep the curvature consistent from strut to strut? (wood strut, not car strut. )

also, it seems to me that you setup your structure, put your cloth in place, then pulled it out to fiberglass? (right?) how did you hold the foundation cloth in place? staples? glue?

*nods*

fiberboard... of course.

i've used std box cardboard for similar pre-fit templates myself... and then did the same by tracing onto MDF and making my cuts...

i'm guessing the fiberboard probably carves a whole lot easier than the cardboard....

edited to finish the thought.

you can see the toothpicks all over the place I used those to hold it all together during the test fit.

Hey Phil can you check my math on this equation for D'knight's project:

Time + care / Plan = Bling quotient

looks pretty close to me for an approximation formula...

i think the detailed calc would read more like:

(time + care)/plan - ln((tools + experience)^2/(trial + error)) = (Bling quotient)*ln(jawdrop factor)
