Sound quality from boot install
Having trawled through the install thread, this weekend I built a box to sit in the recess of the boot so it lies flush with the rest of the boot.
My question is, what should I expect the sound to be like?
I'v only had my S for the past 2 weeks or so and already I'm well aware of the limitations of the standard speakers and head unit.
Because the boot is sealed, is there any was of improving the sound into the cabin?
If this has been answered already, I would appreciate a link to the thread.
Otherwise, thanks for your help lads.
Cheers
Dave

try one of these. its inside cabin so sound doesnt have to travel from trunk to cabin. its right next 2 your ears so u can hear it and your butt def feels it.

The boot, or "trunk" as we yanks like to say, is not actually sealed - the vents behind
the seats lead to it, and there is a rear vent behind the rear bumper IIRC.
Some people have removed or cut the softtop tray, which only makes sense to me if you
won't be driving top-down.
If you search for "footwell sub" you'll find an in-cabin solution that is a little less
involved than the above rear console sub.

@sdosmil77 yeah i'v seen that and taken it into consideration. Im seriously considering doing that soon, but I don't want to irreversibly modify my glove box. I'v looked to find another box from a breakers yard in blue like mine but can't find anything for less than about £250 which to me sounds like a frigging rip off. Still, i'm sure i'll do something like that soon enough. An excellent solution.
@oth I'v seen that thread. Its a good idea but we've got new laws in the UK which state that if you modify or alter the vehicle's structure or make changes to the metalwork then you fall in to a grey area where the letter of the law states you've got to pay £800 odd to get the vehicle alterations checked and signed off by a government approved mechanic/specialist OR you just ignore it and hope you never crash and the alterations never get found.
Otherwise, the thought of building a fiberglass box into the passenger footwell is food for thought.
Cheers oth. I didn't realise there were vents between the boot and cabin.
I'm not too keen on cutting the soft top tray. Not just yet anyway.
Thanks for the input lads
