Question Sound rattles my convertable plastic

If i remove that thing right under the convertable behind the seats, I believe i am going to stop that rattle from my subwoofer pumping hard...but what are the downs to doing that? I heard someone removed it and got the better bass, but went crazy from the road noise since it is used as insilation... any ideas whether i should do it?

i have no doubt that removing the tray will help port bass into the cabin, but i would also expect it to allow more road noise in.

something to consider however are some of the reports that were floating around here about the top 'drooping' into the spare tire area and rubbing on the components down in there. i don't know how much weight to place on the reports, but it doesn't sound outrageous...

somewhere, Dave (NYC) had a fix for the rattle, which basically involved wedging wooden matchsticks (minus the flammable heads) into the gaps to tighten the tray up...
(i'd find it for you, but the search still seems to be down...)
