Speaker adapter for focal 165k2

Default Speaker adapter for focal 165k2

I was just wondering, if I were to make a speaker adapter out of mdf, what thickness do i need for these speakers, 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch?

PAS2KNut,

Just a note: Your Focals are the Utopia version; Ankuse was asking about the Poly-Kevlar version. I'm not sure if the two lines have the same mounting depth; I don't have the spec sheet handy to compare.

I just checked the mounting depth and both have a 78mm depth.

thanks alot for the info, one other quick question, was there any problems putting the door panel back on, anything pushing out of the door panel.

and also where did you wind up mounting the tweeter.

I had no problem with the door panel. I didn't have to modify anything on the door panel. I have an 02 so I put the tweeter in the factory location. Here is a picture of were PJK3 put his Focal tweeter.




If you do a search under tweeter, tweeter location, tweeter position you will get all kinds of ideas.

i really like the tweeter there...

it's far enough forward that unless you're specifically tryin, legs don't block it and w/ the tweeter set at the -2db on the crossover, it's still crisp and clear at that location. the phasing of the mids to highs stays good, the wind doesn't effect one more than the other, and unless you really look for it - you can't see it, so the car still appears stock.
