Well, even though I have only had the vehicle a little over a week, I couldn't stand the stock speakers anymore (plus I think I may have blown the right one).

So, I went and had the following done:

JL Audio XR-650 6 1/2" components (tweeter mounted in door)
JL Audio 300/4 4 channel amp (75x4)
JL Audio MicroSub (two 8" subs enclosed in a box, fits in trunk well and is removeable by disconnecting two wires)
Auto Page Alarm with proximity sensor.

They talked me into the MicroSub, but I am glad I did it. The whole system sounds GREAT!!! However, they did manage to scratch the metal around the shift boot, but they agreed to replace the whole center console piece. Now I can hear the music at 70+ MPH!!

Thats a cool system.

I went with the same speakers, but mounted the tweeters in the right and left windshield pillars.

The new speakers do ROCK dont they?

Went with the eclipse amp, and could only talk my wife out of 1 8W3's worth of trunkspace. Still not bad bass.

Thanks Mark,

Yes these are killer speakers. Actually I was going to go with the same bass setup as you but they made me a great deal on the dual Micosubs. How do the tweeters sound mounted in the pillars? Sounds like you have a good setup as well.

Do you know where did they mounted your crossovers? I could not find them for the life of me, I guess I will have to call and ask.

When I first asked where the crossovers were, I was given the "why not ask me for the ICBM launch codes

But I am a persistant cuss, and he said they are under the dash. Plenty of room there, and they can be pulled down later for adjustments if needed. I dont think installers like to give up the secrets.

The pillar mounts were a real test of my courage with regard to mods. I checked the cost on replacements and they are only $24 ea. so I went for it. They sound great. Gives a kind of surround sound, and ya just dont see em if your not looking. Basically looks like a dozen small holes in a circular pattern.

We'll be in Ashville on Fri night-Sun. If you are coming, maybe will compare. Cant wait

I know what you mean. These installers seem to take it personal when you ask questions about their work. Unfortunately I can't make the trek out to Ashville from California. But have an awsome time!!!
