Default Speaker Baffle baskets

I understand from crutchfield that these baskets protect the speakers in the doors, but after the installation of my Boston 6.5 pros, and yes they are amped, i have lost a significant amount of bass. I had shave out the stock baskets to fit them in, now i was wondering if the baffles would improve bass response at all or they just strictly for protection? What could be done to improve bass? I dont want something as much as a sub afterall they are only 6.5's but i want to gain the amount of bass i had before i dropped them in.

No they will not help bass, and probably hurt the sound. Components naturally have less bass than stock speakers or coax. They are specifically engineered no to provide low frequencies. Get a subwoofer, youll be much happier.

&
just because you get a sub, doesn't automatically make you a bass head. You can have low end sound without rattling your neighbors.

Components are made for great mids and highs. They are, for the most part, designed to be used with a sub if a full range sound is desired.

A nice 8" sub, with 150 or 200 watts will provide you with great bass fill, and you wont even be able to hear it outside the car. Its the right way to go!

Right, i am not lookin for the kinda bass a sub would produce, however i noticed a serious loss in bass when goin from polk components to boston 6.5 pro components. I was curious on why there is such a loss? And baffles will actually hurt the sound?

A ten is plenty in an S.

You could get a ten with 200- 300watts, or an 8 with 150 -200 watts. You will get some bass out of that.

A touch too much bass means that you could control it, so that you turn down the dial and then Viola! you will have just enough.

Check your wiring, sounds like you wired them out of phase.
