Hey guys I just installed some speakers in my car but I had a concern. I couldn't get the adapter to work with the speaker basket, so I just left out the basket entirely and used the adapter they provided and screwed that straight to the door.

Is that a mistake? Do i need the speaker baskets for anything?

 

You don't need them per say, but I got my Polk Audios to fit into the stock baskets with the adapter plates. They clear the door panels too

 

Which polk speakers do you have? Did you order from crutchfield?

Strange I couldn't get the adapter ring onto the stock speaker basket. The holes didn't line up... unless I'm retarded and I just needed to play with it more.

What are the baskets for anyway?
