I already have the speaker baskets cut. My 6.5" speakers were too large for the hole, the woofer speaker was to deep to fit in properly. The s2k speakers are not a true 6.5". do a search sometime about it.

these are the speakers I use: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=11412
are you sure about s2000 door NOT being true 6.5"???
im an installer and i havent seen any 6.5 whole much bigger than s2000, exception of chrysler, since they are 6.75".

The S2000 does not have true 6.5-inch-165mm door speakers. It is a size slightly smaller
sometimes referred to as "Euro size/din."

hmm... i never knew this
but, i never had any problem installing any of 6.5" speakers at the shop (except for the depth issue).

Maybe you should trim a little more off the speaker basket there buddy because my Alpine SPX's fit just fine with the basket trimmed, and they have a very large basket for a 6.5 inch speaker. You needed to trim it out more. Next time use a Dremel

You really I no idea what the heck your talking about.

here is my Pioneer TS-C160R.

And mine does have pretty big magnet as well.

Fit Focal 6.5's in. cut the speaker basket. Works just fine.

I'm probably the only one who did this tho...

not.

Cut the basket correctly and you can fit just about any True 6.5 speaker in there.

its not that magnet that is the problem, its the angle of the metal that goes from the surrount to the magnet base. the JL's I listed will not fit without lucid's adapters. end of story.

I had the same problem with the focals. I had to cut the stock basket and cut notches where the metal brackets went. It was pretty easy. But i had to cut deep.

the red area indicates what i had to remove to get the focals in.

I removed the baskets and made some spacer rings out of 3/4" oak plywood (didn't have any mdf handy) because mine were too deep (hit the glass) and the frame wouldn't fit in the stock hole. There's several ways to do it but I agree that nearly any 6.5 will fit. I don't think 7's will though, they'll hit the door panel in places you may not want to trim.

Advertised speaker sizes are "nominal", meaning "more or less 6.5"". While a metric 165 speaker (165mm) is exactly the same as 6.5" (OK, it's only 6.49") lots of manufacturers make speakers that are odd sizes and advertise them as a standard size. Some buyers don't know that a 160 or 170 is close enough to a 165 to work in nearly all cases, so they promote them as 165's or 6.5" to avoid lost sales.
