Speaker upgrade question
ok well i did a little bit of research according to what you guys have said, and this is what i came up with......
Pioneer TS-D701P
is there anything technically wrong with those speakers as far as my application?
60watts rms
91dB sensitivity
25Hz - 32kHz
64.5mm depth
If this is a poor choice could you give the reason why and an example of a speaker that would be better and why?
thanks for all the help so far, hopefully i can come up with something decent while staying stock

that's not an answer, in fact we already concluded that you shouldn't use the power hungry kappa without an amp.......

Pioneer HU 880PRS has internal amp so no extra Amp. one AMp for the Subwoofer though.
Just my humble recommendation...
Don't look for low power speakers, look for high efficiency speakers. It's nice to have the option of adding an amplifier at some time in the future without having to replace the door speakers as well.
I have Diamond Audio Hex series in the doors, powered by my Eclipse head unit. The sound is amazing. One of these days (maybe today even), I'll get my amp wired in and they'll sound even better.
The key, though, is high sensitivity. The more sensitive a speaker, the better the sound reproduction and the less power it will need to perform well.

Another plug for the Polk dB6500/6501. I just upgraded the door speakers with my stock system and they sound great. Nice bass and very efficient. You should notice even more difference as I understand the stock speakers have improved over time. If yours are factory 2002 MY speakers they are getting old and likely need replacement anyway.
Hi, did you use the Polk-DB6500, how did they fit? I was told they are too tall for the door panel. I have a 2001. Please let me know.
Thanks.

to be honest if your looking for a little improvement over the stock setup it will be ok.... if you want to be going 85+ with the top down and want to be able to understand what is playing.... then go add an amp. running speakers off the deck is not the right way to do it, just get it amped amd you will be glad you did.
