Speakers for 02
Has any one tried Rocford Fosgate 6.5" 2ways in the doors. Listened to them earlier today and sounded very good. Or Kenwood? Can't find any pro installers here in Columbus to listen to em, they all say Kenwood speekers are junk, but the head units are great. What do you guys think. If I get them, the three places I checked will not exchange them if I don't like em.
Haha, Lucid is defending his products. Anyway, Kenwood speakers are pretty good. Lucid's recommendation of putting the speakers behind would dramatically enhance the soundfield. Since you have an '02 model, you should just buy component speakers. The 6.5 midrange and tweeters would replace the existing ones.
with the rockfords you will most likely need an amp.
they use up a nice amount of power.
I have RF's in my integra with no amp, and when I try
to raise the volume, they start clipping due to lack of
juice.

Hey Lucid, what about the Kenwood KFC1687's. will they fit without cutting the basket or the KFC1677's. Should I assume that the 1687's will sound better with the stock radio. Also,I don't want to mess with the stock tweeter yet, but if I do, can I just get a tweeter later on and use an in line base cap? Do you have this stuff in stock and when will your site be back up?
Or, should I not do anything since I do not wan't to add amps etc. Just wan't to have better sounds for cruizing around town listening to Jazz kind of tunes.

There is plenty of room in the door for many good speakers. I just mounted MB Quart PSD 216 in my '02.
The stock baskets come out and you manufacture a 1/2" spacer out of MDF. Perfect fit for the 6.5". No cutting on the car. Actually, now lucid sells the spacers which will save you serious grief if you are not a student of woodworking. I did not use them because they were not out yet, but Lucid was great with the harness and SWI control interface, so I think that his spacers are a must.
There is plenty of room for tweeter mounting in the '02 door. I used the stock bracket with the single screw that goes into the tweeter. Incredibly simple. I was even able to bend the bracket to angle the tweeters where I wanted them.
Crossovers fit in the door just under the window switch. easily in the passenger door, kinda tight in the drivers door. No cutting. Awesome tunes. Highly recommended.
I do believe that Lucid makes a good point about power. I am running a Rockford 600.4 amp thru an Alpine 7965, with stealthbox for bass. I think that these are great speakers, but likely too power hungry if you are planning on using the stock head unit...
