I made my own S-pod......this is before I saw S-pods were available!!! Awesome sound, I would never have it any other way!!! But you will need to tune them with the fader or other controls to lower the volume level of the rear speakers!!!! This was the most satisfying mod I have done yet!!!

I am 6'1 with a long torso. I have S-pods and no time correction on my head unit. I am able to dial them in with simple fade controls to the point that the fronts are far more powerful then the rears. I don't ever notice the sound coming from the Spods, they are there for fill.

My suggestion would be to setup your car without ANY rear speakers. If you like it, leave it. If you want more come back and we can talk then. At that point, you should be able to more accuratly describe what is missing, and better suggestions should come out then.

Okay -- so it looks like the behind the seat option is a no-go for me -- 6'2". I'll probably just go ahead and pre-wire for the Spods when I do my system install (hopefully next week). If the system sounds okay without the rears then I'll just leave it be. Otherwise, Mark and his S-pods will become my new best friend...

Darkknight -- I'm going with an Alpine 9851 -- does that unit have the time-delay that you were talking about?

Wiring should arrive today and my sub arrives Wednesday.... I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Oh -- before I forget -- Wlarurent and his V2 box....well... how do I say this? AWESOME? INCREDIBLE? --- this guy can build a box!

As far as I know that HU does not offer that feature. I looked up the manuel and its not listed, so unless I missed it that HU doesn't offer that feature.
Having Digital Time Correction is something that you can't understand unless you hear the difference. It make the music sound so much better once its tuned.
As for the rear's, again its one of those things that make a hugh difference. You will notice that it doesn't sound right without them there. It sounds like somethings missing... and it is Can you listen to music without them sure... but why would you want to.

I've got the s-pods and love them.
You will not experience the legroom issue when you install these. I can put my seats to the furthest position back. Imaging will also not be as bad as people say. In fact with proper fader adjustment you'd be hard pressed to hear any problems at all.

That said, the s-pods are a luxury, not a necessity to a great sounding set-up. For me the ambient rear fill helps quite a bit especially with the top down. I think your set-up will work wonderfully with the s-pods because of your powered fronts. I would never recommend s-pods to someone who was powering all four speakers from the head unit. But for someone such as your self who has already expressed an interest in rear fill in a properly designed set-up, i'd highly recommend them.

hope this helps

Have I mentioned how much I love this site -- ask a question, get an answer.

Setting up an install date/time with my help (my brother) so I'll let you know how it turns out and hopefully snap a few picture. I'm thinking I'll probably end up with the S-Pods installed, just not right away. I'll pre-wire for them and it should be a snap to install them later....

thanks for everyones input.....
