Speakers are shot, what to buy?
My factory speakers are pretty much blown out on my 2001 S2000. I think it was because the previous owner had them turned up as load as they would go with the top down.
I'd like a decent set of speakers to replace them, but I don't want to have to replace the head unit, etc. Just swap speakers with ones that will handle being played laod without blowning up. (played at factory max for long periods of time)

You can get some ideas from here:

This is S2000 specific.
I went with the JVC 4-way. Needs a bit of modification to the speaker enclosures in the doors.

I replaced my stock door speakers in my 2001 with Kenwood Dual Mags....fit like a glove, and sound great. I am fairly sure they don't make them anymore, search Ebay....you will love them.

They require that you cut the door speaker enclosure. Not bad if you have the tools. They sound pretty good to me.
Check out Lucid's site for speakers that are drop in and for part numbers you can take to your stereo store if you don't wish to buy from Lucid.
