Has anyone researched putting small speakers in the console that houses the head unit? There are speaker grills on either side. In my experience even cheap little speakers would add some ambient sound and sound dispersion which in a car means "easier to hear". What do you think?

That Panasonic is overpriced marketing crap. It's totally ineffective as a "center channel." Pretty low quality deck for what they charge for it, too...

I'd think that a nice set of tweeters might be able to be fitted into that space, though.

 

not a good location for anything. Even if you put surface mount tweets there they would be too low and bump your knee.
