Default SPOD Sound

I installed a set of spods with separate Alpine 136A speakers, and am a bit disappointed with the sound from the spods. The speakers are powered by the stock 2003 HU, using the rear speaker connections. If I compare the sound from just the fronts with the spods using the fader, the fronts sound much fuller, with significantly more bass and much clearer. I noticed when I installed the speakers in the spods, there are gaps between the speaker frame and the spod speaker mounting aluminum plate. Also, some gaps exist between the aluminum plate and the plastic roll bar cover. Would the sound improve if I put some sort of gasket or foam to seal the speaker frame to the spod aluminum plate? Any recommendations much appreciated.

thanks,
Jack

Jack,

This is the first time I've heard of someone being dissatisfied with their S-Pods!
Please call me so we can figure out why the sound quality from your S-Pods isn't what you expect. I'm sure we can find a solution. I'll PM you my phone #.

Thanks,
Mark

I'd also be willing to refund the purchase price if we can't find a solution.

Good possibility that the headunit is the problem. These speaker need 40 watts RMS and the stock headunit is not even close to 40 watts.

overpower, please do not underpower. it is less fun and far worse for your ears and equipment.

Sounds like the HU to me... I don't have S-pod myself and I have rear speaker behind the seats and I prefer them there, but I've honestly never heard anyone complain about S-Pods or the quality... very odd. Great job with the customer service though Mark!

Thanks, I do my best to treat customers as I'd like to be treated.

Jack,

I'm still waiting to talk to you, or just post here if the problem has been resolved. We'd all like to know how it turns out so I can inform future customers.
