Default Starting my car..

Okay I have had a couple problems with my car wanting to start...my stereo goes on, my headlights go on...I will go park for a few minutes and then come back and my car won't start this is the second time it has happened, not enough time for my batter to die....

THe first time I used a battery charger to start it..today I tired to jump it with cables but that didnt work....my dad finally came and played around and it started...he said he just pushed "harder" on the ignition switch??

anyone have any ideas? sound familar? Need a new switch? altenator!??! anything?

How long has it been since you changed your battery?

You can't guess. Start testing out your system. Disconnect the aftermarket sound system to eliminate that and if that's not it then, start at the battery and move on from there testing the system till you figure it out.

I had this same thing happen on my accord a few months ago. Intermittent no starting on first key turn, then it would start on the second try. Got progressively worse. Battery checked out, turned out to be the starter.

If the key is in the Accessory position, your radio will work but the car will not start. When you had it all the way to the "On" or "Run" position, did the dash light up (test out all the lighted indicators)? If not, then you may have a problem with the key switch contacts. If the dash did light up, then you may have a problem with the "Start Engine" push button or wiring.

Talk to your dad. Did he have to push harder on the start button or push harder on the key switch?

What is it? The starter button??

If you have to push or turn something harder then it usually means that the 'device' needs to be changed..

sounds like either your starter or your "engine start" button.
