Default Static in left speaker only

Infinity Reference Components
Pioneer Headunit
Kenwood 4 channel amp

-Static does not increase or decrease with revs
-Static is consistant at specific parts of songs. It will get louder with increasing volume
-Heavy bass causes that speaker to make a 'thwap' sound
-Switched Left and Right on the RCA on the amp and the static still comes from the left speaker
-Pulled door panel off to make sure there was no vibration and what not
-Made sure connections on back of speaker were solid
-When this speaker was hooked up to head unit instead of the amp, no static was noticable. I ran a new 12 gauge wire to the speaker and hooked it up to the amp, at which time this problem presented itself.

About the only thing I haven't done is run a new wire. :\ Any advice guys?

Have you tried moving the cone to make sure it moves freely and smoothly?
Sounds like a blown driver..

Excessive heat build up in the voice coil due to excessive power or high distortion levels. i.e. trying to actually get bass out of a 6 1/2" speaker in a convertible.

It was fine until I ran the new speaker wire to the amp. Previously when it was hooked up to my headunit it was fine. I noticed it immediately when hooked up to the amp.
