Default Stereo

I recently purchased a 2002 model...most fun of any care I have ever owned including 911 and 12 cylinder eType Jag stick shift.
Any suggestions for improving existing stereo by using only existing speaker holes. Are there better speakers that would fit in the existing slots for the door tweeters and the other speakers? Would it sound any different if I didn't add an amp. I saw one amp in the bottom of the trunk area, and it fit fine. Does this spoil the integrity of the car?

The best "Bang" for the buck is to add Rears from Lucid .

Since he sells the speakers installed into panels, you have nothing to cut, and the car can be brought back to stock quickly.

I changed out my stock speakers with MB Quart components, but when I added the rears the sound was great. I installed the MB Quart speaker into the existing holes (Tweeters, and MidBass) using stock hardware and Lucid's 6.5 installation kit (Rings). It fit like a glove.

I second the recommendation for the rear speakers from Lucid. As previously stated, if you buy them already installed in new panels, you have the original panels in the basement if you want to return the car to stock.

The wiring harness just plugs into the factory harness: no wires to cut, splice, or anything else. So the wiring harness can be returned to original condition as well.

i would replace the oem door speakers / tweets with decent ones. lucid sells an aluminum adapter ring for mounting 6.5 speakers easily and the door panels come off easily. also i agree with adding rears. No matter what u do however, this car is so noisy that prepair to hurt your ears if u want to hear music at high speeds even with upgraded everything. i don't think your oem system is capable of playing that loud however.

You could upgrade with an amplified headunit and new door speakers as a starting point, and I'm sure you would notice a difference. Then add the rear speakers. That would be a very simple cost effective way to upgrade. Then if you want to go all out then add the amp and sub. Good luck, however, there is great information about this topic in the forum.

I did not use Lucid's speaker, however, I did use his cutout back pannels. I put in Boston Acoustic RX47's. Although I did need to trim a very little metal to get the magnets to fit.
