Stereo finally works
After a year of pounding my head against the wall with my stereo, I finally got it to work. I had to have PAC rework the resistors on the inside. I kept frying the CPU.

List of problems:
- Purchased a stereo right after I bought the car. Had a party that weekend. The stereo disappeared right out of my room. Hadn't even opened the box yet. Had to buy another one.
- Post Office lost my package with the Pinky Mod.
- Two months later it turned up (right before the insurance reimbursement was supposed to go through). Hooked it up to find out I had oddball resistances. Left the mod hooked up for a while; fried the CPU.
- Got a new PAC modules from Pinky. Hooked it up. Worked for about 2 weeks. CPU fried again!

- Mute button dies. Honda fixes under warranty. No questions asked. Glad I kept the factor stereo.
- PAC gets involved. Too much current through the CPU. They send a new SWI-3 (free of charge) with an additional resisitor to protect the CPU. Finaly it works! I can finally start putting in the amps etc.

BB: Wow, what an impressive list of problems!
Glad to know that everything worked out in the end, though...
slinka: This is certainly the first I've heard about this type of problem. Please note, however, that this was most likely due NOT to the PAC unit being faulty, but the stereo controls on BB's stook. If he fried two CPUs before getting the controls replaced, the only fault I would find with PAC would be not protecting their circuit against outside failures (sometimes it's difficult to guess all modes of failure). As far as I am aware, everyone else has been quite happy with their PAC units, even with the few oddball cars out there with varied resistances.

bbsilver has been a champ through all this. Though I must say I have totally lost money/sleep/hair over this thing. But hay its all ok in my eyes. I just about gave up when PAC finally stepped in!
Needless to say im very happy that he is happy.
