Default Stereo's and controls...

Question to the world...

If you change the factory stereo...will the volume and other controllers on the dash still work ?

I really don't see how they would...any inputs ?

Perhaps someone has effectively changed their head unit, and has found a model/make that works?

Thanks

I have seen some after market kits which can connect the new head unit with existing controls. I have seen them both for Acuras, and s2000s. I dont know the name of the product off hand.

will the cheaper lucid harness work with dash controls? Or is it just the multi radio DCI?
Thanks

i have the multi-radio DCI... it works great and actually ADDS functions to the standard dash controls... the S2000 wiring harness is not what you need. it only provides for an easy method of patching into the factory harness. the multi-radio DCI comes w/ this harness.

the DCI is limited however to a handful of very popular manufacturers (Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer, and some Sony).

There are two Dash control interfaces (DCI's) mentioned prominently in various threads in this forum:

1) The S2000 Multi-Radio Dash Controller Interface created by modifry and marketed by Lucid Automitive here is the lucid link and just one of the threads associated with this:

I have this one with an Alpine HU and it works great

2) DJ Cubes DCI. Here's just one thread associated with this device:

The problem with the SWI-X is the delay introduced by the device. I've heard from various folks that installed one that they no longer use it because of the delay

I had the SWI-X and hated it. Changed to DJ Qube's and love it.
